Coronavirus Prevention & Travel Restrictions:

Updated: March 12, 2020

The COVID-19 global pandemic is inflicting dynamic changes on us all. As you know, the IPSS leadership and the IPSSW meeting organizing committee have been closely monitoring this fluid situation and have been in frequent discussion regarding contingencies and options.

With worldwide concerns continuing to escalate rather than diminish, recent WHO and CDC announcements/advice and increasingly stringent institutional travel restrictions, we have decided, after long and careful consideration, to reschedule IPSSW2020.

IPSSW2020 city and venues (Vinoy Hotel and John’s Hopkins Simulation Centre) will remain unchanged. The new date is 23-26 October 2020, with pre-conference activities on Friday 23 October 2020. Note this configuration spans a weekend, dissimilar to previous IPSSWs.

We intend to hold a virtual meeting(s) before summer to share some of the intended content from the original meeting and to keep the momentum and operations of IPSS moving forward. Expect updates with respect to these in the upcoming weeks.

We want to thank you all, our members, partners, sponsors and delegates for your ongoing support and understanding.

If you have additional questions you can contact us at info@ipssglobal.org or you can visit ipssglobal.org/ipssw-2020 for up-to-date information. We look forward to seeing you all in St. Petersburg in October.

Wishing you all the very best during these uncertain times.

I am a UK-trained Neonatologist working in Starship NICU in Auckland, New Zealand. I am a member of the Douglas Starship Simulation faculty and lead the simulation programmer in NICU. My key simulation interests include education, communication and patient safety. I have been an active member of IPSS since 2011, member of the Education Committee since 2012, am a past Co-Chair of the Education Committee (2017-2018) and a current member of the Board of Directors. In collaboration with others, I established the IPSS-INSPIRE Fellowship in 2018 and am on the working group leading this initiative. My vision for IPSS is to continue to support collaborative knowledge sharing and research development in the pediatric and perinatal simulation community. My wish for IPSS is to see an increasing number of non-physician members and to support and develop the ability of those still at the early stage of simulation.
